The beaches around Brittany are plentiful and varied. A
selection of some of the best beaches are shown below.
Within 25 minutes drive of La Lohuas gites, you will be on the North Coast
of Brittany, or Cotes D'Armor. The North Coast is very varied with
a huge selection of beaches to suit all tastes. There are hundreds of
quiet hidden bays, with sandy beaches, where you may not find another
soul. The more commercial beaches are vast and like stepping back in time
with their blue and white striped beach tents, golden sands and gently
sloping beaches. During high season, many have attendant lifeguards, and
all the facilities you would expect from a quality beach resort.
Dinard
has lovely sandy beaches, and miles of seaside promenades amidst flowers
and palm trees. Dinard won the hearts of the avant-garde tourists in the
middle of the 19th century. It is considered to be one of the finest seaside
sites in Europe, because of its mild climate and its long sandy beaches.
During the Belle Epoque, it was particularly appreciated by the English
and the Americans and became the top seaside resort in France.
Pleneuf Val Andre is a beautiful town, rich in history and decked with
floral displays. It has many unspoilt beaches and a famous golf course.
Other beaches that are close by and worth a visit are Cancale, St Malo,
Erquy, St Cast le Guido and Les Sables d'Or (literally the Golden Sands).
